September 19th is a very memorable date in Mexico. 32 years ago, in 1985, and now on the same date on 2017 at 1:14 p.m. Mexico city and its surrounding areas were hit with many damages. Those of us who live in Mexico City know that we are in a seismic region. This country has seen earthquakes hit its territory repeatedly, and is aware of their impact. This past September, two big earthquakes struck the country with great magnitude and damages. This is why Mexico’s population is used to run earthquake drills, like they did during the morning of this past September 19th, but that would not be enough to help us cope with the aftermath of the earthquake we were about to experience just a couple hours later.
In the following video, I share with you our experience, and the lessons learned in the past days. I truly hope this will enlighten and empower others in their own experience trying to help and tend to affected populations after natural disasters.
I would also like to thank the hundreds of rescue specialists that came to Mexico City to help; as well as the many many people from all over the world who have sent donations and good vibes for our recovery. Rest assured that we will do our best to put your help to good use.
